Mum and Dad visas still on ice


The NZ Government closed the parent residence visa category in October 2016 leaving parents with no pathway to join children in New Zealand. Now there is a Labour Government in place the question is will Mums and Dads remain frozen out?
The Labour Government says it will decide whether the parent residence visa category will reopen sometime this year. It’s not a priority.

Meanwhile the current residence programme ends June 30, 2018. The Government also needs to decide what number of residence approvals they want in future years. Watch this space.
