Today, the Prime Minister announced sweeping changes to the Active Investor Plus Visa (AIP). The government is laser-focused on delivering increased economic growth for New Zealand and attracting more foreign direct investment.
The AIP changes announced today are set to roll out in early April 2025 and are highly attractive for people looking to secure permanent residence in New Zealand.
Key features of the new AIP are set out in the chart below.

The English language requirement is removed.
At the end of the 3 or 5 year investment period, when the final audit is cleared by Immigration NZ, everyone included in the residence application will be granted Permanent Resident Visas (PRVs). A PRV is valid for life (unless a serious character issue arises). Few countries in the world offer the security of gaining a permanent residence visa that lasts a lifetime.
The launch of these changes land when many other countries have closed their investor visa programmes. Australia, Canada, the UK, and several European countries are no longer accepting investor visa applications. New Zealand is now a shining beacon for people looking for a secure place to call home in an increasingly troubled world.
We have investor visa specialists travelling to Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany and the USA during March and April 2025. If you are interested in a one-on-one meeting use the investor email below to express interest and we will get in touch.
If you have friends, family or colleagues who would like to discuss if they qualify for residence under the new AIP email investors@malcolmpacific.com or connect directly with our Investor Visa team here.
If your business is looking to raise capital you might want to consider attracting migrant investors (capital and talent) by becoming an approved direct investment. Read more here.
