Immigration NZ report around 80% of Skilled Migrant Residence applications and 65% of Straight to Residence applications required more information or were missing key documents.
When an application is not fully documented this may lead to:
- Processing delays.
- Longer lead times for an application to get onto the desk of an Immigration Officer.
- The risk of an application being declined because key documents (e.g. a police clearance) take too long to arrive or Immigration NZ is not satisfied the rules have been met with the evidence provided.
- Documents expiring and time-consuming requests to renew.
- Expensive temporary visa renewals because the residence application cannot be finalised before a visa expires.
Immigration NZ is not obliged to wait for missing documents to arrive. These statistics demonstrate that preparing and lodging a residence application is complex. It pays to invest the time and money upfront to get your application right – the first time!
