Does Your Business have Multiple Sites?
An Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) has several conditions listed on the visa. These conditions include the employer, occupation of the visa holder and the location in New Zealand where a migrant worker is allowed to work. These conditions need to be adhered to otherwise an Accredited Employer may struggle to renew accreditation and a migrant worker may face cancellation of their visa.
If you have multiple sites where you want your migrant workforce carrying out work it is best to get this sorted at the outset.
- Working in multiple regions. At the job check stage the job needs to have been advertised in each region and there has to be a genuine reason why migrant workers are required to work at multiple sites.
- Travelling between multiple sites within the same region. Nothing special required as the region of employment is published on the visa and allows work anywhere within that region.
- Check the employment agreement is clear on the place or places of work. If the place of work is in multiple regions then advertising the job in multiple regions is required. If the employment agreement is not clear take advice from your Licensed Immigration Adviser and employment adviser.
If your business has a change of ownership (or name), a migrant worker is offered a new role (different to the occupation published on the visa) or you want to move a migrant worker to another region take advice. A variation of conditions application may be required or an entirely new AEWV application. Immigration NZ may need to be notified of business changes relating to an accredited employer and passing on this information should not be delayed.
